The short version
Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, the retailer pays us a commission. You pay exactly the same price either way. No brand can pay us for a recommendation, for a position in a comparison table, or for the removal of a competitor.

Other affiliate programmes
In addition to Amazon, we may participate in affiliate programmes operated by individual brands and by affiliate networks. The same principle applies to all of them: a qualifying purchase made through one of our links may earn us a commission at no additional cost to you.
How to tell whether a link is an affiliate link
We try to make this obvious rather than hidden:
- Affiliate links carry a
rel="nofollow sponsored"attribute. Search engines and browser extensions that flag sponsored links will detect them. - Outbound product links open in a new tab and are identified in the surrounding text as taking you to a retailer.
- Pages that contain affiliate links carry a disclosure near the top of the page, in addition to the disclosure in the site footer.
- Buttons that lead to a retailer are labelled as such, for example “Check price on Amazon”, rather than disguised as ordinary navigation.
Prices
We do not publish prices on this site. Retail prices change constantly and the price shown by a retailer at the moment you look may differ from any figure we could print. Every product link takes you to the retailer’s live price. The price and availability displayed at the time of purchase are the only ones that apply.
What our commissions do not affect
- Whether a product is included. A guide covers the products that solve the problem, whether or not they are available through an affiliate programme. Products with no affiliate programme at all appear in our guides when they are the right answer.
- Where a product ranks. Rankings follow the criteria published on our methodology page, not commission rates.
- What we say about a product. Every guide names who should skip each pick and what the trade-offs are. Negative findings are published the same way positive ones are.
We do not accept payment for a placement, a review, a ranking, or a sponsored post, and we do not run paid “best of” listings.
Editorial independence
Commission is never the reason a product is recommended. Where two products are genuinely equivalent for a reader’s situation, we will say so rather than manufacture a winner. Where the better product pays us nothing, we recommend the better product and say that it pays us nothing.
